My newest tinies; Notecards

My newest obsession/hobby is Swap-bot.com

I've sent 8 people stuff because of this site since I registered on Friday the 14.

It's given me a new craft! I've been making notecards!!

They are much easier than I expected. With simple and cheap paper combinations I've made really nice looking cards.

I bought a pack of Colorbok (with an umlaut over the o in bok) "Earthtone Warm" for the cards, and "Veranda" for pattern paper to glue to the cards. They were both $5 at Walmart and filled with paper.
Seemed like a much better deal than the blank, blue notecards I got from Office City. There were 20 cards for $17.
We'll see how many I can make with my $10 of paper. I do know that mine are prettier though.

Years ago I happened to have bought a scrapbook pack in a failed attempt to organize the huge bag of baby pictures of me my mom gave me. It had really pretty pop out shapes to write on.

I popped them all out and traced the holes onto card stock to make reusable pretty templates.

I measured out a notecard then traced my template onto the back of my pretty paper, cut it out and glued it to the front of the card.
It came out wonderfully.

Then I used my magic ruler and measured out five Barbie-sized notecards! I made a tiny template based off the other one I used and made a tiny matching notecard!

Next I found a very helpful tutorial on making envelops and made envelops for all my notecards!

I've also done a bunch of polymer clay stuff. I made ten little white bowls and one big bowl for the frozen yogurt from ToniEllison's Youtube tutorial, four waffle cones for her Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream tutorial, two cute little servings of spaghetti, and purple frosted sugar cookie.

I've also made a Mold Builder mold of a plate with my finance's desaudering braid case and a cupcake mold from the cap off of one of my ribbed paint tube caps. I lost the first, so I made another, only to find the first, kidnapped but unharmed by the dog. Now that I have two I may make more and make a cute little cupcake pan! :)

Until next week!

Crafting FAILURE! Teeth and FIRE!

Yesterday I attempted my first skinner blend!  It came out beautifully with purples, turquoise and black!

I also made a little baby in a white bunting at my Love's request. I'm 5 months pregnant now and I think he's going a bit baby crazy. It's adorable.

My crafting was interrupted when my love let our ferrets out to play. Our adorable little female ferret jumped up onto the chair I had the cookie sheet on.
She saw the baby and something in her little feral ferret brain snapped! She clamped onto the ribbing of the bunting like a great and mighty hunter!

Having ferrets really shifts your mind frame because where a normal person may scream in frustration because the project they took 45 or so minutes on was just ravaged. As a ferret owner I was far more concerned about her EATING UNBAKED POLYMER CLAY! I burst out laughing as I vainly tried to free her prey! When we did manage to pry her off, we were relieved to find a very crisp bite mark, meaning she didn't manage to EAT any!

The ferret was saved from her own stupidity for another day!

I love our ferrets so much! They are so cute!

Anyway, this baby is about a half inch thick so I plan on cooking it for about 20 mins, however, I put it in with the flat piece of skinner blend which is possibly the thinnest thing I 've ever done with polymer.

My love and I were sitting busily. I was scavenging through the internet, eating up the best polymer food tutorials I could find and searching desperately for active polymer swaps.

My lover had had me hide the power cord for his computer in a desperate attempt to free himself from his addiction to the internet and in his boredom was helping mash clay with baby oil for me.

He was the first to jump at the intentionally annoying rhythmic screaming of the fire alarm.

"Bre!" he exclaimed, "help me find what's on fire!" Then he ran down the hall frantically.

I found the plumes of foul smelling smoke from the oven to be quite telling and my heart sank.

Sadly, I turned off the oven and took the smoking cookie sheet outside outside.

In the dark of the night I could almost make out the green and black masses that were once my lovely creations.

In my great disappointment, I'd forgotten about to tell my lover who was frantically ransacking our roommate's room, ready to stomp out the ravenous flames!

When I came back inside, he rushed past me, hurriedly asking if I'd found the fire!
Only after I sadly and slowly explained he relaxed, after calling me cute.

It finally happened. My laptop died and no one can bring it back.
I loved my laptop. I even learned Linux when Lappy got too sick to run Windows.
Now I have a new tablet. It came free with the bed we just got.

My relationship with this new device is beginning very rocky. It's hard to use and I see it doesn't allow for spellcheck.

I keep rocking on the floor, telling myself "it'll be ok for now. It'll be ok."

Maybe someday I can bring civilazation to this unruly wolf spawn! Or perhaps I will find enough quarters in my couch to buy a real computer again!

As far as crafts go, I MADE STUFF! Unfortunatly I couldn't get pictures off of my camera onto this thing so now NO ONE GETS TO SEE THEM! (Exept for the little girl who now owns them).

I made a custom cake for her with her name, but I wasn't pleased with it so I attempted to make a treasure box with piles of gold coins. I failed badly, so I looked up a tutorial (which I will add when I figure out how to add hyperlinks and copy/paste) and made an adorible little baby statue. :)

I wish you could have seen it. You should have been there.
